“Every living cell in the human body is
surrounded by a thin layer or membrane of fat that serves as a
protective shield around the intricate mechanics inside the cell.
Invading microbes or other harmful organisms can penetrate the
“phospho-lipid bilayer” causing disease and disability.
Research has
shown that omega-3 fatty acids strengthen cell membranes. In fact,
omega–3 fatty acids are effective competitive inhibitors of
inflammatory substances. Science has shown that omega-3s can prevent
blood clots, plaque formation in artery walls, demonstrating clearly
that they protect against heart disease.
Matol’s proprietary
blend of EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids provide the essential
dietary supplement to prevent “sticky” blood. Fish oils - the
best natural source of omega-3s prevent blood viscosity (stickiness)
and reduce tissue destruction caused from blocked arteries.
Since eating fish on a daily basis and in the quantity necessary to
get all the omega–3s is impossible, Matol’s Optimum Omega–3 should
be on everyone’s daily menu.”

* Taking Omega-3 to Heart
* The main benefit of omega-3 fatty acids is reducing the risk of sudden cardiac death, which appears to be due to decreasing the risk of abnormal heart rhythms.*
.
In 1996, the American Heart Association released its Science Advisory, “Fish Consumption, Fish Oil, Lipids and Coronary Heart Disease.” Since then, important new findings have been reported on the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids on cardiovascular disease (CVD). These include evidence from randomized, controlled clinical trials. New information has emerged about how omega-3 fatty acids affect heart function (including antiarrhythmic effects), hemodynamics (cardiac mechanics) and arterial endothelial function. The ways that omega-3 fatty acids reduce CVD risk are still being studied. However, research has shown that they:
- Decrease the risk of cardiac arrhythmias, which can lead to sudden cardiac death.
- Decrease the growth rate of atherosclerotic plaque.
* Epidemiologic and clinical trials have shown that omega-3 fatty acids reduce CVD incidence. Large-scale epidemiologic studies suggest that people at risk for coronary heart disease benefit from consuming omega-3 fatty acids from plants and marine sources. Evidence from prospective secondary prevention studies suggests that taking EPA+DHA ranging from 0.5 to 1.8 g per day, may significantly reduce deaths from heart disease and all causes.
*Randomized clinical trials have shown that omega-3 fatty acid supplements can
reduce cardiovascular events (death, non-fatal heart attacks, non-fatal strokes).
They can also slow the progression of atherosclerosis in coronary patients. However,
more studies are needed to confirm and further define the health benefits of omega-3
fatty acid supplements for preventing cardiovascular events.
